| 内容記述 | <p>A cancer education program for first grade junior-high school students was delivered by medical professionals at Teikyo University Junior & Senior High School in December 2018. The cancer education program aims to encourage students to learn about cancer, in order to deepen their knowledge about health and to enhance their awareness of the value of life. The program mainly consists of lectures on the mechanisms of cancer, prevalence, prevention, screening, treatment, palliative care, patients' perspective and quality of life. We implemented self-administered questionnaire surveys on the cancer education program. The questionnaire items included effectiveness and understandability of the program, perceptions of cancer and cancer patients. We analyzed each record using SPSS Text Analytics for Surveys. The survey was responded to by 107 students and 88.8 % students described the lecture as beneficial. The key words were divided with a linguistic method into several categories: "screening", "1 in two", "myself, "adulthood", "story", "early phase", "familiar", "disease", and "cancer", etc. Students were able to understand the significance of understanding cancer and cancer patients and we could grasp their understanding with a linguistic approach. A cancer education program can be an effective method for sharing knowledge on cancer care and developing students' health-related decision-making ability. The feedback from students shows the utility of the educational program for various targets.</p> | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
